Natl govt after integration: MK Nepal

KATHMANDU, FEB 19 - Former Prime Minister and senior CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal said on Sunday that the fundamental issues of constitution drafting and ground work for national government should be started after completing the peace process.

He added that it would be appropriate to initiate the process for resolving the contentious issues regarding the constitution drafting and national government formation after completing the peace process through the army integration by vacating the cantonment occupied by the Maoist combatants through army integration.

Nepal said that flexibility can be shown on the age, marital status and educational qualification of Maoist combatants opting for integration.
“The army integration should be carried out based on the personal ability of combatants; only those who have completed bridging and training and are qualified would be granted the post of officer,” said Nepal. “Otherwise, the integration is not possible just like that. If any attempts were made to make equipments for revolt by forming section and subsection, we would not let it happen.”

Stressing on the need to form a national consensus government, Nepal said the issue of army integration should not be put on the back burner by raising the issue of national government. “Our main goal should be the army integration,” he said.
