Constitution impossible unless cantonments emptied: Nepal

KATHMANDU, FEB 04 -
CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal said that a new constitution would not conclude unless the UCPN (Maoist) empties its cantonment.

Addressing a program organised in the Capital, Nepal claimed that the Maoist is merely killing time and hindering the execution of past agreements. Hence, he added that the new constitution would not conclude in time.

Stating that Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai had not given any direction to the Nepal Army for the integration process, Nepal said that constitution would not be possible unless Maoist clears the contentment and hands over the weapons to the state.

He further urged the government to roll back the decision to legalise the land transactions made by the Maoist parallel government during the decade-long insurgency.

Similarly, UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokhrael said that UML cadres would have to work hard if they want to establish UML as the most powerful party in the coming election.
