Say What?

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “Since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, ‘I believed and therefore I spoke,’ we also believe and therefore speak” (2 Corinthians 4:13, NKJV) TODAY’S WORD  from Joel and Victoria Scripture says, “The spirit of faith is in our words.” My question today is, “What’s coming out of your mouth?” Are you talking about how big your problems are, or are you talking about how big your God is? As believers, our attitude should always be an attitude of praise — “Father, business may be slow, but I want to thank You that You’re supplying all of my needs.” “My circumstance may seem impossible, but thank You, God, that all things are possible with You!” We should always find a reason to give thanks! This is what Jonah did. After complaining for eight verses, he had a change of heart in verse nine. He said, “God, in spite of my difficulties, I’m going to offer unto You the sacrifice of praise with a voice of thanksgiving.” While sitting

Thai PM joins India's national day celebrations

Thailand's premier was guest of honour on Thursday at India's 63rd Republic Day celebrations, an annual display of the country's military might held amid tight security. Yingluck Shinawatra, who flew to New Delhi on Monday, is making her first official visit to the country to promote trade, which the Asian partners hope to double to $14 billion by 2014 from its 2010 level. Shinawatra, who became Thailand's first female prime minister in August, was seated with Pratibha Patil, India's first woman president, as marching bands and military hardware filed past. India was also set to put on display for the first time its Agni-IV missile which can launch a one-tonne nuclear warhead. Agni-IV, last tested in November 2011 is part of an Indian programme to build an array of weapons including nuclear-tipped inter-continental ballistic missiles. The national ceremony will later culminate in flypasts by US-built C-130J Super Hercules planes, Russian-supplied Suk

NC won’t accept information directive: Sujuta

Image
GORKHA, JAN 31 - Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sujuta Koirala said that her party will never accept the government’s decision to classify information. Speaking at the Training program of Dalit Association Gorkha on Tuesday, Koirala said the government’s decision to conceal the information is condemnable. “Congress will raise voice against it. There is a thing called transparency in democracy and the people should know the government decision,” said Koirala. “Hundreds of congress cadres have sacrificed for the same. This is not an easy thing for congress.” Koirala dubbed the government’s classified information directive as a move to gag the press freedom. “Congress can’t accept this tyrannical decision,” she said. Accusing the Maoists of creating obstruction in the peace and constitution writing processes, Koirala claimed that the Maoists will have to suffer a heavy loss if the new constitution was not promulgated by May 27 deadline. “There is no possibility of extending

‘NC, UML have no alternative than joining govt’

Image
BIRATNAGAR, JAN 28 -   Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachhadar remarked that the opposition parties—Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML— would be brought on board to form national consensus government soon.  “They have no alternative than to join the present government,” he said speaking to media persons at the Biratnagar Airport on Saturday. “I am sure that they would not hide in the jungle,” he added.  Gachhadar claimed that Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM), an alliance of five Madhes based political parties, had played an important role in the peace process by bringing the major three political parties, UCPN (Maoist), NC and UML, who were sharply divided on the issues of peace process, to consensus.  He clarified that the controversial decision to legalise the land transactions made by the Maoist’s parallel government during the decade-long conflict would not be implemented.  Gachhadhar, also the Chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik, said that

By  ABBY GOODNOUGH updated  1 hour 3 minutes ago Print Font: CRANSTON, R.I.  —  She is 16, the daughter of a firefighter and a nurse, a self-proclaimed nerd who loves Harry Potter and Facebook. But Jessica Ahlquist is also an outspoken atheist who has incensed this heavily Roman Catholic city with a successful lawsuit to get a prayer removed from the wall of her high school auditorium, where it has hung for 49 years. A federal judge ruled this month that the prayer’s presence at Cranston High School West was unconstitutional, concluding that it violated the principle of government neutrality in religion. In the weeks since, residents have crowded school board meetings to demand an appeal, Jessica has received online threats and the police have escorted her at school, and Cranston, a dense city of 80,000 just south of Providence, has throbbed with raw emotion. State Representative Peter G. Palumbo, a Democrat from Cranston, called Jessica “an evil little thing” o

Maoist major hindrance for natl govt: Khanal

Image
NEPALGUNJ, JAN 25 - CPN-UML Jhala Nath Khanal said the path on which the current government is moving does not lead the peace and constitution to a logical end. Addressing a program organised by Press Chautari, Khanal claimed that UCPN (Maoist) is the hindrance to the peace process. “This would neither lead to any agreements nor to the constitution,” said Khanal. Khanal also showed his deep concern towards the government’s decision to legalise the land transactions made by the parallel government run by the Maoists during the conflict. Hinting towards Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai’s statement that a national government would soon be formed under his leadership, Khanal said that it was just a dream for Bhattarai. “I do not see the possibility. Prime Minister has many dreams. This is one of his fantasies. However, a government built on the four-point deal cannot be taken forth as a national consensus government,” said Khanal. Khanal said that the peace process is c

Dahal piling pressure on PM

Image
KATHMANDU, JAN 25 - In a new turn of events within the UCPN (Maoist), party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has piled pressure on Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai for scrapping the Cabinet's decision to legalise the land transactions made through the parallel government run by Maoist party during the conflict. Bhattarai, however, is adamant not to withdraw the decision stating that it will weaken the government. A source close to PM said Dahal is pilling pressure through the informal channels and opposition parties to withdraw the decision. “PM Bhattarai has reportedly expressed his dissatisfaction over Dahal's double standard,” said a source, “Dahal himself had urged Bhattarai to take the decision, he has backtracked from his position now.” Dahal confidantes say the chairman is seeking a foolproof measure as the opposition parties are obstructing the House session. The Maoists on Monday had demanded two days to consult within the party and with Samyutka Loktantrik Madhe

The Voice of Faith

Image
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, ‘I believed and therefore I spoke,’ we also believe and therefore speak” (2 Corinthians 4:13, NKJ) TODAY’S WORD  from Joel and Victoria Every believer has been given a measure of faith. In order to see the promises of God come to pass in your life, you have to give expression to that faith through the words that you speak. We must declare what God says about us in His Word in order to activate those seeds of faith within. That’s why the scripture tells us, “Let the weak say I am strong. Let the poor say I am rich.” When you give your faith a voice, you send forth the Word of God into the atmosphere. The Bible says that He watches over His Word to bring it to pass in your life. The key is that we can’t allow words of defeat or negativity to come out of our mouths. Don’t dig up your seed by speaking against His Word. Instead, water your seed by continuing to declare the Word of Go
