After decade long conflict and people’s movement-2, Nepalese people got an opportunity to elect the constituent Assembly members to draft the new constitution of Nepal . It is the first time in the history of Nepal that people are being involved in the constitution making process. With the participation of people of all class, creed and religion, the election of the constitution assembly held successfully and now the country is heading towards the drafting of new constitution and restructuring of the nation. NCCN, as the representative body of Christians in Nepal , made a great contribution in the overall peace process of Nepal . Working Areas of NCCN
NCCN has been focusing its activities mainly in the four programme areas of SAEPP- Leadership Capacity Building , Peace and Reconciliation, Inter-faith Cooperation and HIV and AIDS. Other priority areas of NCCN included institutional capacity building of NCCN, policy advocacy and networking of the Churches at National, Regional and Global level. A. To address above shortcomings and needs of the Nepali Church , the National Council of Churches of Nepal (NCCN) was established in 1999 under the initiative and leadership of Dr. K. B. Rokaya with the support and cooperation of a number of Churches in Nepal as well as the encouragement of ecumenical leaders and NCCs in South Asia . Though NCCN was started in 1999, it became fully operational only from June 2003 when Dr. K.B. Rokaya assumed the responsibility as its General Secretary to devote more time for NCCN’s institutional development. NCCN was formally registered with the government of Nepal in May 2004 under the name Nepal Rastriya Mandali Parisad which is the Nepali version for National Council of Churches of Nepal. One factor which contributed to the rapid growth of Christianity in Nepal is through healing by prayer. They were not allowed by the government to engage themselves in religious activities but were asked to help in the development process of the country. God has really a special plan for this nation. many missionary and organizations are trying to reach out the remote places for the gospel. and most of the places already got churches. we can see about 500 churches in kathmandu valley itself. however in the percetange christians are still the lowest. it is only about 0.5% in the whole population.

some missionary from europe countries had visited nepal some 200 years ago in the history. christianigy in nepal has begun since a long time. however, because of the hinduism ruling system of nation it could not go ahead. in those days people use to follow christianity secretly. later on after the democracy the nation was announced as a secular country. then the christianity has got advanced. Christianity itself is no like a religion and religious activities. but according to the worldly vision peopl call it a religion. but this is more than a religion, a higher education towards the people for the living and social activities. it describes the existence to human being, the root and the final destination after the death. Bible is the real history of the world where we can find the real meaning of life. the reason of being on this earth. christianity teaches love and disciplined life to be honest being connected with the creator the Lord almighty through the prayer.
